Farewell to Dan Wilson

Baseball Briefly

Thanks for the memories, Dan "the Man" Wilson.

He has become one of my favorite Mariners.

He's an exemplary citizen
and it's nice to see somebody like him in baseball today.

Somebody, especially a catcher like Dan Wilson, makes me,
as a baseball fan who chooses to spend part of each day following the game,
think about what it means to be a professional baseball player
within the context of daily life.

It was nice to see him catch Jamie for one last time today.
M's fans will miss #6.

Loitering Without Intent #01: Lane Sale

Yesterday at a lane sale in the neighborhood.
My new acquisitions:

Passaverdure (look at the price!!)
Finally I can make my own pasta sauce again.

Tin box (formerly a chocolate box)
Looks like it's from 1920's.

Heavens, They Are Tasty #02: Red Beans and Rice

Recipe From NPR Weekend Edition Saturday
Sep. 17, 2005
"Chef Bobo's Good Food Cook Book"

Red Beans and Rice with Turkey Andouille
But I stopped at the point in the recipe where it is still Vegetarian.

Photo posted after Yours Truly expeditiously consumed this wonderful, wonderful dish from New Orleans.

*It has always been one of my dreams to visit N.O.
It would have been my kind of town,
with the music and food that I love.
Well, someday.

Lighter Side #01

There's something going on all the time in the city.

This is what I see now from the window.

This is my favorite view. I used to ramble on the beach.
